World Password Day Tips

Here are a few common password mistakes to avoid when crafting passwords:

1. Using the same password for everything, or passwords that are only different by one character

2. Using passwords that are a single dictionary word (Cat, Dog, Football, Password, Etc.)

3. Creating passwords from personal or publicly available data (Birthday, SSN, Previous Address, Children's names, Etc.)

4. Sharing passwords with others (Don't do it!)

5. Creating short passwords (less than 8 characters. I recommend 10-12 characters as the minimum)

6. Never changing your password (Passwords should be changed periodically. 90-day password rotation is common for windows passwords, but changing your personal passwords every 6 or 9-months is also recommended)
