Embark Member Update - August 27, 2021

A Member Update from the CEO, Deb Evans- August 27, 2021

Fall is right around the corner and many of the kids headed back to school this week.  Unfortunately, we are still wrestling with COVID and the variants when we all hoped we would be back to some semblance of normal.

COVID and Masking
As we did previously, we are requesting and encouraging our members to mask up when you come into our lobbies.  The staff is largely vaccinated but we are wearing masks to protect you and ourselves from these rapidly emerging strains as well as the traditional flu season.

Member Celebration cancelled
After considerable discussion with the Board of Directors, we are cancelling the 85th Member Dinner event that was slated for September 14, 2021.  Again, we thought this would be an excellent time to get out and celebrate this milestone, but it feels wrong to do this as Cascade County has the highest number of cases in Montana.

Shred Event a Success
On August 18, we did hold the annual shred event with the addition of the ability to bring in small electronic or tech items this year.  Even in the cool and rainy weather, you brought in 6720 pounds of paper shred and 1470 pounds of electronics!  We call that a success.

Operational changes affecting some members
Finally, I want to note several upcoming changes some members will see in the next few weeks.  We are updating and automating some of our Direct Deposit and Check clearing processes.  Incoming Direct Deposit files will process and post quicker and earlier in the day than has been the practice here at Embark.  Other files that the staff manually pushed through a day early will now post on the proper settlement date.  If you have questions and wonder if this change will affect you, please give any of our Accounting staff a call and they will explain it in detail.  We don’t want members paying bills or other obligations before the deposits are in the member accounts.  If you have insufficient funds items presented for payment, those items will be returned, and fees assessed if we do not have overdraft coverage instructions set up for your accounts.   Not sure if you have this set up?  Give Member Services Universal staff a call and we will verify it or set you up.
